Components of TOMS external environment, such as competitive, global, economical, and social factors could have affected TOMS Shoes' ability to achieve their goal due to the hardships that were on the rise, like the 2009 recession. This was also around the time TOMS was just beginning to be known as a popular shoe brand. Blake Mycoskie had a major goal to for his company and interesting ways to make them become realistic by helping the less fortunate. When customers would purchase his product, a path to implement change in the world continued on.

The components could have interrupt his execution process depending on what the state of the world is in at that moment in time. If the economy at the time had been in a position where Mycoskie couldn't reach his goal, then TOMS probably wouldn't have taken off like it did. The idea of a"One for One" was a game changer for his company due to the fact it was geared towards helping the less fortunate. Despite the global recession, TOMS still succeeded in executing the business model that he set forth. For a while, TOMS had major success in the footwear industry. In the later 2010's things began to change.

TOMS Shoes' major competitors are brands like Steve Madden, Far Fetch, Firsthand and OpticsPlanet. Other factors that have affected the company's ability to grow is the recent bankruptcy in 2019 that put a pause on the One for One program that was implemented for the brand. This impacted the way Mycoskie would change the way he contributed to the world still implementing an avenue to cater to the needs of people who are trying to expand their own businesses and brands by profiting to grass root proprietors.
